I think that community service is important because you can help other kids with supplies and help animals so they can have a good habitat and a good environment. My favorite community service has been taking part in a Turkey Trot. I love being outside. I am most looking forward to helping kids in a hospital. After doing community service, I feel good because I've helped people.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- October 2012
*This month, for my community service work, I made Feel Better Bags for kids in the hospital. I bought all different fabrics at the fabric store and sewed a lot of different bags. The bags have crayons, paper, stickers and tattoos in them. My aunt is a doctor and she is going to give them to children when they come to the emergency room so they don't feel so scared.
*In my photo, you can see me sewing some of the fabric for the bags. In the other photo, you can see one of the finished bags.
*I enjoyed this project because it was really fun picking out the fabric and making them. I havedone this before but I had a blast and I would do it again! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
November goals
. clean up trash along a river, some beaches or in a park.
.volunteer at a CSA ( local farm)
.set up a recycling bin at school for worn-out gym shoes and donate them trough Nike
This month for helping the environment me and a few of my classmates set up a bin in the library to collect sneakers. The sneakers are donated to Nike where they make turf for young athletes.
I also helped out on Thanksgiving morning at a 5K road race. Before the race, I helped hand out numbers to the racers. After the race, I helped clean up all of the boxes, water bottles, fruit and breakfast food by
recylcing it in a big recycling dumpster.
In my first photo you can see me before the road race.cng it in a big recycling dumpster.

In the next two photos, I am recycling the boxes and plastic bottles from the awards ceremony after the race. I enjoyed this community service because I like being outdoors and it is fun to help out on Thanksgiving. This event was not new to me. I have run in the 5K for 3 Thanksgivings but this year was the first year that I helped recycle after the race. I would like to do this again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- December community goals helping family's:
organize a lemonade/ hot chocolate stand to raise money
bake cookies and bring them to local fire or police station
visit http;// freerice.com and learn while I donate rice to people in developing countries
In December I sent an email to all of my family asking if they'd donate $1 to Heifer International. My family thought it was such a great idea that they gave me much more money than $1. I was able to raise $210! With that money I went with my mom and brother to Overlook Farm in Rutland, MA which is a Heifer International Farm. With the money that was donated, I bought flocks of chicks, ducklings and goslings, honeybees and a goat to be donated to families around the world! It felt good to help people in need and I LOVED visiting the farm!
